HOME INSPECTORS Honoured with Better Business Bureau Award

In the mid 1990's, the Better Business Bureau Board of Directors decided that it was time not only to report on complaints but also recognize those companies that go "Above and Beyond" in serving their customers, employees and the community at large. From that decision the annual BBB Torch Awards was conceived. The BBB's Torch Awards recognize excellence for ethical and fair business practices while promoting the vision, mission, goals and values of the Bureau.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) awarded Paul Wilson and HOME INSPECTORS® with the 2007 Torch Award under the small business category for demonstrating strong ethical business practices. The awards gala dinner took place on October 3rd, 2007 at Ottawa's National Arts Centre and was attended by distinguished professionals within the community.

Keynote speaker for the Gala evening was Leonard Lee - Founder of Lee Valley Tools. Ironically Mr. Lee and HOME INSPECTORS® President Paul Wilson are long time acquaintances having been coworkers back in the 1970's. It was Leonard Lee who significantly influenced Paul Wilson to go into home inspection full time back in 1980. At the Gala Mr. Lee was quoted as saying "It obviously was a good move Paul. It sounds like you love your work and judging from this award, your clients really appreciate your efforts - well done!"

The coveted BBB International Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics attracts over a thousand entries from businesses of all sizes throughout North America. Local competitions are held to highlight the importance of corporate conscience and responsibility in upholding a fair and honest marketplace. This award may only be won once by any company so even though it happened in 2007- we were then and still are, honoured to have received it.
