Effective Home staging, may in our opinion, either make or break a sale. Many stagers create a decluttered, cold and sterile environment that does little to enhance a homes attributes.
The good ones however... can be of great assistance in ensuring that a home sells quickly and for Top Dollar!
A few years back, we were flattered to have been approached by Kanata Home Stager, Susan V. Phillips to review a draft of a book she was working on. Susan was a Certified Interior Designer who was now branching out into Home Staging. In addition to critiquing her book, she also asked for our assistance and input with what we both refer to as "Red Flags" when we inspect a home.
Well... we enjoyed Susan's book draft so much that we not only offered her our insights but insisted on writing the books Foreward.
Susan's book "The Seductive Power of Home Staging" is a must read for anyone considering selling their home. Susan's no-nonsense approach was a welcome breath of fresh air from what we normally experience with homes that have be professionally staged. She beleives that a home needs to be not only decluttered but also warm and inviting. Her book has a great section on "Red Flags" where she is in total agreement that the services of a professional Home Inspector, can be very instrumental in determining problem areas that may be viewed as "deal killers" by your potential buyers.
